St. Ratrick's Day

2024

After 12 icy Marches we finally got another nice weekend. It was one of the biggest St. Ratricks Days ever because it was the club's 25th anniversary. Rats came from all around, with a bunch of old-timers, and so did other clubs. There were Black Labels there, and Klunker League Now, and a bunch of the Nashville Rats, some old-school Scallywags, even a Mosh and Brew or two.

The planners put a ton of effort into this year's event. The theme was CircASS. There were probably more events and contests than ever before. It seemed like there were a hundred freakbikes on the ride.

The pre-party was a circus show at West Town Bikes. It featured circus performers and a special batch of St. Ratricks Day beer brewed by Revolution Brewery. The house was packed! There was a raffle for bike-themed prizes. There was a very impressive Best Mold competition with some really impressive molds being submitted. There was a Who's Ass Is This competition. The spanking bike was set up and there were shirts, handkerchiefs, patches, and more in the merch booth. There was juggling, sword swallowing, and even some fire spinning that brought the fire department. They must love the Rat Patrol, they show up to all our events!

The ride started at the Logan Skatepark under the freeway. With never-before-seen discipline the ride started in a timely manner.

There were lots of games- the usual trash relay races, chariot races, and pixie bike races, but also some new and creative events like a bike zipline where two contestants clashed and had to make the other person touch the ground. There were trophies given for rattiest chopper etc. and a tug of war between clubs. We don't do whiplash any more after too many people knocked out their teeth, and so there was a new version where a rider with a big bungie had to try and make it all the way to a cup of water and take a drink. There was a grappling hook game. There was bicycle bowling with liquor bottles for pins. There was a big game played that was based on Killer Queen, where you had to get balloons to your nest while dodging the Exterminator.

We all stopped by for chili made from dumpstered ingredients.

Of course we had the traditional pinata.
