No cars are allowed on Mackinac Island at the north end of Lake Michigan. When ferries from the mainland pull up to the dock, a gaggle of porters appears to carry the passengers' bags to the dozen or so island hotels. All the porters rode cruisers with enormous baskets like this, perhaps trying to outdo each other for the most number of bags carried. On a small island I guess you don't need to see where you are going.
