Although I saw few bicyclists on the streets of Taipei and Taichung, there were always a lot of bikes parked outside the MRT train stations. These commuters must be up and about earlier than I am. Many of the bikes feature extra seats over the rear fender, just as a motor scooter isn't just transportation for one person but for an entire family:

This one is my favorite: the extra seat is made from a tiny plastic chair tied to the fender with rope!
