The flower beds along Michigan Avenue are host to an ever-changing array of temporary sculptures, as if their novelty would draw in more shoppers. Here high-school students from Gallery 37 were given bike parts to make sculptures from.

Most of the bikes were simply junkers painted in different colors. Few of the sculptors did anything unusual with the pieces, perhaps knowing that their artwork would only be temporary and therefore not worth much effort.
